Construction work has recently been successfully, completed at Joseph Collins House, with customers moving into their new, apartments. The four storey high, over 55s, care ready apartment block has been constructed on land formerly occupied by the Jarrow Ex-Servicemen’s club. Fittingly the building has been named after a Jarrow born war hero, Joseph Henry Collin, who was awarded the Victoria Cross for gallantry in the face of the enemy at Givency in France in 1918.
The Scheme has been developed by South Tyneside Housing Ventures Trust who are an independent, private, not-for-profit company, which was set up in 2013. Galliford Try Partnerships North were the Construction Partner for the project and who are currently also in the process of constructing a similar Over 55s apartment block in River Drive, South Shields. The architects for the Scheme are Darlington based, BSBA Architects.
